PIANO and VOICE instructor
"I believe music has the power to bring people together,"
Emily Green grew up in Oakville, Ontario in a musical family, the daughter of a rock guitarist. She received her Bachelor of Music degree with Honours from the University of Toronto, where she majored in Music Education and Classical Piano, with a Minor in German. Before university she completed her RCM Grade Eight Piano exam and corresponding written theory exam.
Emily has been teaching piano for ten years - she built up her own mobile piano studio of thirty students while living in Victoria, BC from 2016-2019 and was also a music instructor at the Victoria Conservatory of Music during that time, teaching an outreach piano program called Children’s Music Journey at elementary schools in the Victoria area. When she lived in Ontario she taught group piano classes for four years at Merriam School of Music. She also led Rock Band summer camps there. Emily also has experience as a church musician - she acted as Music Director at two Anglican churches in her hometown.
Outside of piano, Emily’s other musical talent lies in her experience as a pop/rock singer, guitarist and ukulele player. At the age of nineteen, she independently released an album of original songs, titled Party in the Fortress! (the name of her pop duo with her sister). When she was seventeen she started performing in bands with her sister, a drummer, and her husband, a guitarist. Emily moved to New Westminster with her husband in 2019. Outside of music, Emily practices yoga daily and is also a passionate environmentalist who enjoys cycling, and reduce-reuse-recycling.
